Join us for a two-day demonstration with Giselle Hicks as she shares her clay process for making elegant pinch pots. Giselle takes a direct fresh approach to her work and is a joy to watch her pinching technique. There will be an opportunity for participants to try some pinching techniques with Giselle’s instruction during the workshop. “I enjoy the formal exploration of shape, volume, proportion, and color. I also enjoy the building process, and work toward making forms that are grounded, generous, soft, and sturdy.”
Originally from California, Giselle received her BFA from Syracuse University and her MFA from NYSCC of Ceramics at Alfred University in New York. She participated in various artist-in-residence programs including the Anderson Ranch Art Center, the Arts/Industry Program at the Kohler Company, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, The Greenwich House Pottery and The Archie Bray Foundation. Giselle’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Belger Arts Center in Kansas City, The John Michael Kohler Art Center and The Bellevue Art Museum and the Southwest School of Art.
